How the work goes
Most jobs: 1–2 days — wood needs to dry between cleaning and sealing.
  • Gentle clean to strip dirt, algae, and mildew without damaging the grain
  • Wood brightener applied to neutralize gray and restore natural tone
  • Prep on rough or splintered boards where needed
  • Protective stain or sealer to lock in color and repel water
  • Decks, railings, fences, cedar siding, and outdoor furniture all handled

Most people look at a gray, splintered-looking deck and assume it's done. It almost never is. In King County, the relentless moisture and UV don't rot the wood first — they bleach it. The surface fibers gray out, the grain lifts, and what was warm cedar or fir turns the color of old driftwood. The wood underneath is still sound. It just needs to be brought back.

Restoration is three steps, and skipping any one of them is why DIY jobs fail. First we clean — a gentle wash that strips dirt, algae, and mildew without blasting the soft fibers apart the way high pressure does. Second we brighten: a wood brightener neutralizes the gray and chemically pulls the natural tone back to the surface. This is the step most people don't know about, and it's the difference between wood that looks washed and wood that looks restored. Third, once the wood is dry, we seal or stain it to lock in that color and repel water so it doesn't gray out again next winter.

That gray, weathered look usually isn't rot — it's UV bleaching the surface. The wood underneath is still good. We bring it back.

Seal over dirty, gray wood and you trap the damage under a coat that peels in a season. The order matters. We do it right, in sequence, with the wood dried between cleaning and sealing.

We restore decks, railings, fences, cedar shake siding, pergolas, and outdoor furniture — we've even brought wine barrels back to life. Because the wood has to dry between steps, most jobs run one to two days. We're licensed, insured, and carry proof of insurance for property managers who require it before we start.
